Ozone Is Effective For All
|
Ozone is a form of oxygen called "active oxygen". Over 20 percent of the air you breathe is oxygen. Your body uses more oxygen in a day than any other substance. The form of oxygen you breathe is a two-atom oxygen molecule (O2) oxygen - this being its only by-product. In nature, you have probably noticed its clean, fresh scent after a rainstorm. Ozone has particularly been brought to light within the last few years as more municipal water treatment systems have sought methods of large volume water treatment that do not require the storage of chemical products. Los Angeles has the world's largest water treatment plants, purifying 580 million gallons per day at the Los Angeles aqueduct filtration plant and using 8,340 pounds of ozone per day. Other familiar places using ozone include: Sea World, Disneyland, Disney World, Hearst Castle and many major hotel chains in the U.S. and abroad, and most all bottled water companies to produce the purest bottled water. The success of the ozone system has led to widespread conversion because of its many benefits. Today, over 30 countries employ the use of ozone for water purification because it is an environmentally safe effective and user-friendly form of water purification. It is a system that imitates "cleansing, refreshing" reactions in nature. Ozone is a very desirable solution for water treatment for the following reasons: a) automatic injection either with the spa/pool pump circulation system, or independent of the spa/pool pump circulation system; b) ozone purifies water so effectively that it not only kills the bacteria and viruses but also rids the water of organics such as body oils and urine, as well as the nutrients which the bacteria and viruses can thrive on; c) properly installed, ozone systems can greatly reduce the need for bromine or chlorine in pools or spas. Ozone systems are effective in pools and spas of all sizes. Typically they are venturi actuated or compressor driven models for residential pools and spas. Venturi actuated units operate with the spa/pool pump circulation systems (can be easily hooked to a timer), or are compressor driven to operate independent of the pump/circulation system to assist in reducing maintenance costs and electrical bills. For most residential applications, ultraviolet systems are sufficient. For large volume applications, custom pools or pools in high heat/humidity or with heavy bather load, corona discharge systems are typically used.
Ozone is introduced into the water either through the spa jets or through dispersion "heads" installer in the deep area of the pool. (Unused ozone goes out into the air as 'off-gas" and reverts to oxygen.) Systems are designed for either construction or retrofit. The investment of an ozone system is more initially, at the time of the purchase of your pool or spa, but will pay for itself in reduced costs of operations/maintenance time in a period of about two to three years. At this point, spa and pool owners begin saving money. Ozone systems are like many other consumer products and come in varying levels of quality. When selecting the system that will give you optimum performance for our pool/spa's enhanced water quality, reduced cost of operations and increased enjoyment time, be sure to consider the following: a) size of pool or spa to be treated; b) ratings on the generator ( for example: Underwriter's Laboratories [UL], Edision Testing Labs [ETL], Water Quality Association [WQA], etc.) for safety and performance; c) know the output in grams per hour, concentration of ozone produced, and the airflow through the unit—all of which affect performance; d) be sure you get what you pay for by selecting an ozone generator that has been manufactured by a company with several years of experience in the manufacturer and production of ozone systems and that understands the science of water chemistry. A company of this caliber will not have problems answering any of your use and warranty questions. Improper sizing can mean poor water quality, inefficient water treatment, and make you unhappy with your system. Both the spa and pool owner can enjoy the benefits that the addition of an ozone generator can bring to a pool or spa. Benefits include, an environmentally health, recreational atmosphere for the whole family, enhancing the quality of life available for all. Installation is relatively simple and the rewards are many.
