Post subject: calcium buildup I have a Sundance hottub, about
4 years now. I use Baquaspa chemicals (as recommended by the
dealer). We have unusually hard water for our area and have had,
over time, a buildup of a "white-ish" film on the silver parts
of the jets and in the filter chamber on the walls. The hottub
heater stopped heating past about 85 degrees, and has the code
FLO. It was a faulty flo switch due to buildup of calcium, not
under warranty due to "neglect". I have since been using
baquaspa ph decreaser ( as recommended by the dealer) to remedy
the problem. I now have the same flo code and the same problem,
because the buildup is still in the hoses and it "flakes" off and
gets clogged in the flow switch causing it not to work. My
questions; how do i "cleanse" the system of the buildup in the
hoses and throughout the rest of the system. Is there some
chemical that will "dissolve" it? So I don't have to keep
replacing the flow switch when it gets clogged? And, is baquaspa
chemicals good to use? thank you for your help |

Post subject: Calcium Build up
Leisure Time has a chemical called Jet Clean. You add it to
the spa prior to a drain and clean it acts like Draino but made
for spas. It will release what is trapped on the pipes. If the
build up is severe you may have to drain, clean refill and
repeat the Jet clean process. As for the pH decreaser, what
that is doing is dropping your pH to and acid level to try to
get the calcium to release. There are other problems with
attempting that procedure. If your pH is too low for too long it
will "eat" any metal parts and possibly the plumbing in a matter
of days. We have seen this happen where a new metal part was
installed and the customer called us 15 days later reporting a
leak. When we investigated the leak we found that the new part
had been partially dissolved. Baquaspa Chemicals are better now
that they were a few years ago. I am a certified Pool and spa
Operator by the National Pool an Spa Association, and have been
in the industry for over 7 years. I have found that Leisure Time
is one of the easiest systems to use. You can go to http://www.leisuretimespa.com
and find a local dealer or you can order online at
www.ezhottubs.com. |
